BlogHer… It’s good for the soul.
August 2, 2005
I want to share with all of you what it was like to be there. I want you to feel as if you are there with me. But mostly, I want to capture it while I can for me and for you.
Many of the posts will have humorous anecdotes, but I really want to tell you something important about this weekend for me. I met some amazing women there. Women who touched me. Women who forever changed my life. Women who created a circle of protection, caring and friendship around me when I needed it most. These women gave me the kind of healing that my soul so desperately needed. And I am forever grateful.
As I write this, I struggle to find the right words. Words that let them know (and let you know) how much I appreciate them. I sit here with tears streaming down my face as I think of how I arrived a broken and rather shattered woman and left with a soul that had been healed. I needed to be there. I needed to meet every woman I met. They each gave me something I can hold onto forever. I found sisterhood, friendship and warmth in so many of them.
To think that I almost didn’t come. To think that I almost didn’t open up. And to think that I might have missed this chance to be with these women. It is unfathomable.
You gave me what I did not even know I needed and strengthened me when I was at my weakest. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
