Anyway….

December 28, 2004

It’s been how long since I have posted?  How rude!

It isn’t you.  It’s me.  Really.

I have been out of town this entire time.  Without access to my internet accounts.  And sick. Again.

But Santa was good to me.  (That is always a bonus, right?)

I will update later.  Now, I sit here fondling my laptop getting (probably) a bit too happy about rubbing my fingers all over my keyboard and hearing the Yes! Yes! click click of the keys.  Ahhhh, my blessed computer and my beloved Internet.  How I have missed thee!

Let it snow! Just don’t tell my son.

December 21, 2004

It’s no mystery that we live north of Dallas.  The big D.  CowTown.  You get the picture.  So, it is not unheard of to get snow.  Rare.  But not unheard of.  Usually this happens around February or March.  I am talking about the kind of snow that you people up North will still play golf in.

However, here in the good ol’ South, we freak over it.  Wait.  That is more like FUH-reeeak over it.  Especially my son.  One flurry and he is racing around the house waving his arms about and frantically screaming “SNOW!  The SNOW gods have smiled upon us and we have SNOW!”

I am leaving for Houston today.  (Poor old hubby can’t go.  Sorry babe!) So, wanna see our forecast for the week?  Paying particular attention to Friday.  Christmas Eve.  Boy are my boys going to be mad!

Want some cream and sugar with that, Junior?

I usually don’t post anything about how people find this site through search engines.  Usually because it isn’t all that hysterical or post-worthy.  However, this one made me laugh.

Apparently, I am the 2nd out of 114,000 links when searching for “coffee for hyper kids?”

Let me just tell you this now people.  Don’t do it.  *Giving coffee to hyper kids is just asking for problems.  Begging for problems.  (It doesn’t matter how I know that.)

*Unless you add a little whiskey.  Then of course it is perfectly acceptable.

The one where she uses the phrase “sucks with a suck wattage that cannot be measured”

December 20, 2004

Being sick sucks.

Being sick when you still have Christmas shopping to do and parties to go to sucks extremely suckily.

Being sick when you still have Christmas shopping to do and parties to go to and your husband and co-parent is also sick and hurling lungs with his coughing sucks with a suck wattage that cannot be measured.

My entire weekend is a blur of sleeping, begging to be put out of my misery and occassionally a pathetic attempt at playing Mother and saying something along the lines of “Be careful or you’ll poke an eye out.” or “If your friends jumped off of a bridge, would you do that too?” It was usually met with confusion since the kids were either playing a video game, watching a movie or not even in the house at the time.

It is Monday and I am supposed to be leaving town.  But those damn laundry/packing/shopping fairies decided to skip my house and head for happy hour rather than help a sick, pathetic and quite delirious Mom out.  Bitches.

Which leaves me today to do everything that I was supposed to do late last week and this weekend.  Hopefully without hacking up another lung or burning people’s flesh with the fire that roars from the back of my sore and swollen throat.

Tis the season for TheraFlu.

Now how can you not be in the holiday spirit when you see something like this?  Hope you enjoy your last weekend of Christmas shopping!

Another mouth to feed. But a cute one!

December 13, 2004

I am shocked. I am a bit stunned.  I am even a little bit freightened.  I found out this weekend that there is going to be another member of our family.  A boy.  (Yes, we know already.) He is absolutely adorable.

See?

I have begged for a dog for a while.  It was just never a good time.  That and the fact that I really wanted a Lab and Clint really wanted a Doberman.  He has had dobes before and loved them.  I just wanted one that seemed more “snuggly” than what I thought of as a doberman.

So on Friday, Clint comes home and says he wanted me to just “go look” at something that he really wanted to give to me for Christmas.  I am not one to fall for “just something”, so he told me that it was a doberman and he just wanted me to “look” and that “of course I could say no if I didn’t like him”.

I went into it with an attitude of, “this isn’t going to happen, but I will be a mature person about it and give the dog a chance.” I just didn’t think a doberman was for me.

Then I met him

Then I held him

Then, he snuggled up against me and nuzzled into my neck and sighed.

I admit it.  I am in love.  I want him to come home with me now.  Like Right.  Now.

But, with Christmas plans and traveling and the chaos that is involved, both the breeder and Clint and I agreed that we should wait until after Christmas to bring him home.  *sigh* I want my Christmas baby to come home to me now.  (Patience never was one of my strong suits.)

So here is where you, my dear internet, can help us out.  He needs a name.  We all are going make suggestions.  But, I made a deal with Clint before we ever decided to do this that if we did decided to bring this little guy home with us, I would get the final say in the name.  I need your help in coming up with some good ones.  Keep in mind that he will grow up to be a rather large dog.  Fluffy just won’t cut it.  I have a name I really want, but I am going to be mature about it and listen to other suggestions.  Who knows.  Maybe one of you has the perfect name picked out for us.

Will you help us out?  What ideas do you have for out newest addition’s name?  If the name you choose wins, there may just be a prize in it for you.  Does that motivate you to suggest one?  Prizes?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks!

December 8, 2004

Oh sure, one little secret about a little evil love child and you people stop commenting.  Are you just a bunch of Snow Miser lovers?  I never knew!

Thanks ever so much for the orange spice tea recipes!  I am so excited to have my memorable tea tomorrow.  Don’t get me wrong!  I am in no way, shape or form giving up my coffee!  No Way! No How!  Oh, my sweet Amber, I could never turn my back on my coffee.  (Mommy Needs Tea?! I don’t think so.)

Ahhh, orange spiced tea.  A good movie.  No housework.  I think I have my Thursday planned!

Tea! Tea! My blogdom for some tea!

Totally using my blog for my own gain.  Get over it.

When I was in college at Southwest Texas State (yes, I know it is now Texas State University, but I went there a LONG time ago right before I went to Texas A&M–whoop!), my roommate in the dorm–Holla, Smelly Melly! I miss you!– used to make some awesome orange spiced tea.  The only thing I remember about the recipe was that it had Tang in it.  Does anyone out there have an orange spiced tea recipe they would care to share with me?  I am just jonesin’ for some tea.  (And, hon, that is rare for this coffee drinker.)

And in honor of my awesome roommate, I will post one of my favorite stories from that time in college.  Later.  If I can get the lawyers to sign off on it.

Good morning afternoon evening

December 4, 2004

It’s Saturday.  The day typically spent doing things around the house and the yard.  (Assuming it isn’t soccer season.  Then, the days are spent on soccer fields.  However, soccer season is over, so it is home day.) So anyway, here it is a free Saturday to get things done.

Trust me things need to be done.

When we were planning on moving this summer, we packed a lot of boxes.  Mostly books, but other things as well. They are taking up half of our garage.  Today is the day to clean that up so that we can get into the attic to get to our Christmas decorations.  It was my job today.

I just got up.  As in out of bed.  From last night.

For those of you wondering what freaky time zone I am in, remember that I am in Texas.  Whereas we are a bit different in most ways, we still live in the Central Time Zone.  Which means that I just got up at 3:07pm.

Raise your hand if you think that this fecking cold has finally kicked my butt.

I’m getting tired.  I’ll be in bed if you need me.

Oh and if you want to come do my garage cleaning for me, feel free to do so.  It would really help a gal out.

Surprise is on me!

November 6, 2004

Okay, so I am going to totally use the fact that it is the weekend to pretend that is the reason I am not posting this weekend.  If you can keep a secret, I will tell you the truth.  Deal?

The truth is my sister and her two boys came to town Friday to surprise me for my birthday.  So, we have been playing and having a wonderful time together this weekend.  Over the years my sister has become my very best friend.  We went from being total opposites who cannot even be in the same room together, to total opposites who have a blast together and laugh and love and share everything with each other.  When we are in the same room together no one else really is around.  We just have that much fun being together.  I know I can tell her anything.  And trust me, this weekend I have.

So, if you will excuse me, I am going to go enjoy the last night of my sister being here and go talk and laugh and love my birthday surprise!
