Oooops! My Bad!

July 8, 2004

I have been a very bad blogger friend.  So many of you are so good at leaving comments and coming by even when there is nothing but drivel on my site.  (Drivel, not dribble.  I am not that bad, yet.) So, let me apologize for not being a good reciprocal blogging friend.

I am thankful that one of you called me on it.  (Don’t worry, Philip, I won’t tell them that it was you.) You see, I need that from time to time.  I need the bloggers that I admire to say, “Hey, wait a minute!  I take the time to come here and you don’t even acknowledge me?  You are SO not all that!” (For the record, Philip did not say that to me.  That is what I said to myself after he was very kind to me.)

So, instead of doing the typical “These are my daily reads and I want you to go there” posts, I am posting this instead:

“These are the blogs that I read all the time, but I really need to let them know that I read them all the time because my lazy ass hasn’t commented there in so long and I am sure that they have about given up on me; so, won’t you save my reputation and go over and tell them howdy for me?”

Tell Philip at The Blue Sloth that I know I am not all that and thank you.

And tell Ben at Hey, you that I appreciate his support but I still want to come live in Aggieland.  (And give him a hug while you’re there.  He has had a rough few days.  C’mon.  Spread the love people.)

Will you tell Shylah over at Simply Shylah that I surely have not forgotten about her and miss our talks.

On your way, will you stop by and give Emily at Mad Mommy Chronicles a shout out and tell her that she rocks!

If you see Shelley at Generation X-hausted, tell her I am exhausted too and could use a break with her book!

Kristine at filegirl.com has already been asked for forgiveness, but will you give her some love too.

Did you happen to see Kathy Howe of kazoofus while you were out and about?  Did you tell her I miss her?

And finally, but not leastly (I can make that a word if I want to), give some belly rubs to the Procrastinatrix over at Inspired Procrastination and tell her that honest, those pregnancy books are in the mail.

I realize now that this list is NO WHERE near complete.  There are way too many of you that I have let slip out of contact with.  Do me a favor.  Don’t just sit here, people.  Call me out.  I need a swift kick in the ass now and then.  I love you all and I promise Girl Scout promise to comment a lot more.  Scouts honor!

A new baby blogger joins the ranks!

July 4, 2004

He’s here.  Genuine Baby has been born!  Please go over to the Genuine Blog and welcome Aidan James to the world and give his Mommy and Daddy a big congratulations.  (They are both amazingly wonderful people!) Besides that, Genuine posted pictures that are so freakin’ adorable it makes my uterus twitch.

How cool is it that Aidan gets fireworks and parades every year for his birthday?!  Now that is one awesome way to spend a birthday.

Welcome, Aidan!  (So, how soon before you start your own blog little dude?)

More blogiversary stuff

I was sitting here thinking after my last post about something.  (Amazing, I know.) I am going to ask you all for something.  No, now wait.  Come back!  For my blogiversary I want to ask you a few things. (Indulge me.  It IS my blogiversary, afterall!) Tell me why you come here.  I mean really.  I know at times you are probably asking yourself that.  (Now is not the time to wonder yourself.  It is time to stroke my ego let me know why you read this blog.) What are your favorite types of posts?  Do I reveal too much about myself, not enough or just the right amount?  More pictures?  Less pictures?  What pictures?  Have any questions?  Ask away, my friends.

Okay, the truth of the matter is that I have really tried to avoid posts about the blog.  To me, that can get so boring.  The whole “blog business” and “let’s talk about the blog rather than talking about whatever it was that caused me to start a blog in the first place” types of posts bore the hell outta me.  (And when your own blog bores you, you are in deep trouble!)

Indulge me this once and I promise you a minimum of 90 days without talking about the blog.  (Unless of course there are technical issues that you may need to know….or if something big has changed….or if I just feel like it.  But those are the only times I will talk about it.)

So, in order to make this not all about me (which really, you know it is), what else happened on July 3 in history?  Well, surely nothing as monumental as the beginnings of this here blog over at Blogger, but some other things did happen on this day (just now LAST year on this day.  This was the most important thing!)

Yes, it IS that post with the 27 questions about me!

June 5, 2004

You know that I usually don’t do meme’s.  I rarely do quizzes.  I am not into posting polls.  But, I have see this questionaire at Mindy’s and at Jay’s and thought it was a great “get to know you better” kind of thing.

So, throwing caution (and good sense) to the wind, I decided to answer this one.  Not into reading it?  Bite me.  No!  No!  I kid with you.  I kid because I love.  Nevermind.

Newness everywhere!

June 3, 2004

Okay, so if you are reading this thank a teacher that means you found the new digs.  I have moved everything over to Expression Engine and to a new server. (Yes, I do like to overachieve. Why do you ask?)

I do love EE.  Okay, sure, I have horked it up more times than I can count.  Okay, yes, I have alienated my friends and family working on it.  Yes, long time commenters got locked out for an entire day.  But, wasn’t it worth it?  (Oh, and as for the comments…if you tried to comment and couldn’t, that should be fixed.  Let me know if you still have problems.  Just email me and let me know.

In fact, that goes for anything you find messed up here. Let me know, please.  I have customized this entire blog myself.  A first.  No wait!  I forgot to mention the way cool nifty coffee cup logo.  Clint made that for me.  (Thanks babe.)

I hope you like the new styling blog.  Make youself at home, but please, try not to break anything.  I am doing a great job of that myself.  ;)

Moving over to Expression Engine

May 28, 2004

I suppose a weekend is the best time to do a blog overhaul.  Seeing as there are fewer readers on the weekends.  Especially a holiday weekend.  So, you may notice some changes here this weekend.  I am going to be doing my best to make this as painless as possible.  (Oh who am I kidding!?  It is totally pain free for me! He is doing all the work!)

Nevertheless, if you notice some problems, please let me know.  I am trying not to hurt the place, but I make no promises.

Thanks for your patience!  (As always!)

Blog it Forward V

February 10, 2004

Well, the man has spoken. It is Blog It Forward V Day. (And when Buzz speaks, we all would do well to listen. I’m just saying…)

Today is all about couple bloggers (since it is the week of Valentine’s Day and all.)

Thanks Susan of Red Grand Am for making the Blog it Forward Button (snagged from Buzz)!

First of all we have our Mr Blog It Forward himself, Buzz and his beautiful Empress Pat. These two are some of my favorite daily reads. They both have a great sense of humor. They are real. you just feel like you know them when you read them. (Not to mention the fact that they are so in love with each other, you can’t help but adore them and cheer them on!) We are SO going to have dinner with these two one of these days.

Next we have our beloved Buddha. If you’ve read this guy, you know he is a piece of work (and I SO mean that in the best possible way!) He takes humor to an all new level. (Honestly, dude, the Cowboy stuff is in the mail!) So who could possibly be a match for his wit and wisdome? Well, his beautiful wife Valley of Valley Views. I really enjoy her take on things. (Not to mention the inside track on their home remodeling jobs going on. I’ve gotten some great ideas there!) She isn’t feeling well today, so go give her some love (and her Buddha, too).

You want a great laugh? Head over to see Erin at Chix Mix. She is relatively new, but she cracks me up! (AND she is talking all about boobs this week. Bonus, huh!) Oh, and did you know that her husband is the Pete of the infamous Pete Beck? They really are a funny couple and both are great reads. You won’t be let down by either of them when you add them to your must reads.

While we are all about couples, there is no way I could forget Natalie of Pickle Juice fame. I really must meet this lady. She totally has me cracking up on a daily basis. Her outlook on life, motherhood and pretty much everything is so twisted unique to her that you can’t help but enjoy her. When you read her, you can sometimes get the 2 for 1 deal and get sent over to read her husband, Andy of Yates on the States. They are great at bantering between their blogs. (One word: Cats.) You will enjoy these two. You have my word on that!

Now, how could I ever have a Blog It Forward all about blogging couples if I didn’t mention my very own better half nef aka Clint aka My Man. You really should be reading him. Why? Because he is pretty damn funny! Not to mention that if you read him, it makes him happy, which puts him in a good mood which makes me happy which, therefore, causes better blog entries here. (See how we all can work together here?) Seriously, if you haven’t followed one of my thousand links back to him, you should. He finds great links and really does have a great sense of humor. (And a pretty damn cool wife, too!)

So there you go. My Valentine’s Week Blog It Forward V. Now go see them and tell them Jenn sent you. You can thank me later for your new daily reads.
